Bomba New CD,
Cuatro Caminos CD of the Week on CKUA Radio
(March 12, 2009)
If you've ever experienced ¡Bomba! live, you know that
this superlative band can deliver its good cheer and powerful
energy in an entire range of Latin styles. The band can do
it all, from rumba and son to traditional Afro-Cuban Santeria
chants and drumming, to Latin jazz. ¡Bomba! has invited
a few world-renowned guests from Los Muñequitos de
Matanzas and Chile's venerable Inti-Illimani to augment the
already solid line-up of conga, bongo, cajon, tres, bass,
guitar, violin and piano.
Emilio Rios' bighearted crooning sets a fine groove in the
grand old style of Cuban popular music, and Chris Andrew's
commanding piano brings a layer of harmonic complexity to
Bomba's upbeat tunes. I can't stop singing along with the
infectious album opener, Vamonos Pa'l Malecon (Let's Go To
The Malecon). A Latin tour de force - from right here in Alberta.

La Peña de
Bomba!
(Special Bomba Event - Sept 25, 2008)
Bomba! has long been dedicated to exploring the various
grooves that make up the different forms of Latin music. To
assist the band in delving more deeply into their musical
roots, the band will be holding monthly “peñas”.
The peña is a chance for different members of Bomba
to come together in special variations and explore the influences
in their music. read more>
